Code
Description

314

Non-Critical Improper maintenance of distribution system

No testing of chlorine residual or chlorine residual log, no maintenance log available. No UV.

Corrective Actions: The water supplier is to test and monitor the residual chlorine levels in the water supply on a daily basis and keep a log of these records, and all other maintenance work, to be reviewed by the DWO when requested. The operating permit will be updated to reflect these changes.

316

Non-Critical Source unprotected and subject to contamination

Well cap does not have a secure up to date well cap, is rusting, and pooling water observed around well casing.

Corrective Actions: Implement a plan to upgrade well cap to prevent potential contamination and remove or install drainage system in concrete barrier around wellhead to prevent any pooling water

318

Non-Critical Inadequate Microbiological Analysis data

0 out of 1 required bacteriological samples have been submitted for 2025. July 2026 water samples received. Regular bacteriological water samples required under Drinking Water Protection Act and Regulation

Corrective Actions: Submit drinking water samples to our office as per required sampling frequency listed by DWO

319

Non-Critical Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data

Last raw water chemical analysis was completed 17 June 2019. Chemical analyses should be completed every 3-5 years

Corrective Actions: Submit raw water samples to an approved lab for full chemical analysis and provide results by September 1, 2026.

Comments
This water system supplies drinking water to the Hope Bay Bible Camp, which includes the Hope Bay Bible Camp Kitchen as well as six other connections. Source water supplied by drilled deep well (tag 61292), stored in a cistern, passed through a 5 micron filter, and then treated by an NSF-50 conforming chlorine feeder (Stenner 45MPH2). Operator to monitor chlorine residual (0.04-0.2 ppm) through log book that is kept on-site, recorded daily during use. Well cap secured, stickup at least 12 inches above ground level. Well cap and body appear to be rusted, with pooling water around the base level with built-in drainage pipe. Well cover unsecured, plant debris observed in pooling water. Lot serviced by septic field. Water samples for microbiological testing currently submitted on an annual basis with mostly satisfactory results. Frequency to increase to monthly, as the grounds are open year-round for guests. GARP - Requirements of Ministry of Health (MoH) Ground Water Treatment Objectives (GWTO), which will include a "GARP" risk assessment of the source(s) water completed by a Drinking Water Officer (DWO), was discussed with the water supplier. The district DWO will conduct and review the "GARP" risk assessment, and this office will provide a copy of the assessment to water supplier, so that they can consider the appropriate risk mitigation options (if necessary) for compliance with GWTO. 12 months of raw water sampling data is required for a GARP assessment. Water sampling requisitions have been set up for the treatment room (pre-treatment). Submit regular treated samples as well as one untreated sample for bacteriological testing and continue to submit both samples monthly.
