Water is sourced from Pete's Lake Water User Society WS (Hadley Lake surface water). The connection at the curb splits into 6 connections: 2 residences, the Fire Department and its reservoir, the recycling centre, water fill up station and the Judith Fisher Health Centre. The Heath Centre services as the only nurses' clinic, short term recovery centre, practitioner treatment centre, respite care centre on Lasqueti Island. In addition to providing essential care, it also provides drop in hygiene services (e.g. showering, self care) for residents. Population served is mostly elderly and those who have on-going medical conditions. The Judith Fisher Health Centre has a point of entry system run on solar power. Water enters the building and goes through a 5 micron filter, H2S coagulant filter, 5 micron filter, 1 micron absolute ultrafilter, tank and UV filter. Bacteriological samples are taken monthly, sampling has been up to date. Total coliform counts occur during summer/spring months in 2025 and 2024. The system was recently on a Boil Water Notice (BWN) due to total coliform counts. No counts of E. coli are noted in the last 5 years except for 1 E.coli count in August 2024 while the system was on BWN. The operator proposes to expand the system and connect to the fire hall, which does not have treated water. The operator expresses that the fire hall faces significant challenges for washing and cleaning of equipment, lack of laundry services, shower facilities for staff and needs a greater supply to service the growing community. The operator expressed significant challenges with capacity of treated water available to supply the residents and health centre from the current system. The operator expressed the need for system upgrades to meet the growing demand on the health centre due to the aging population on Lasqueti Island.
