Non-Critical Inadequate Treatment
Inadequate treatment is in place to meet the surface water treatment objectives. Cartridge filtration is not suitable to effectively mitigate high turbidity and manganese levels. Engineering reports in file indicate that required CT is not being achieved.
Comments
System draws water from the Wilfred Reservoir (surface water) and pumps the water up to two large storage tanks with a capacity of 66,000 US gallons. Treatment consists of cartridge filtration (5micron + 25micron filters). Disinfection consists of three UV units and chloramine (ammonia and chlorine added at the treatment plant). Boil water advisories/water quality advisories were issued in 2024 for high turbidity and high manganese levels. Terms and conditions to achieve compliance with SWTO by December 31, 2024 have not been met.
