Non-Critical Source unprotected and subject to contamination

Operator stated that sheep have occasionally been permitted to graze in the vineyard that surrounds the well. No sheep were present at time of inspection, no animal droppings noted at time of inspection. No sources of contamination are permitted within 30m of a well head.

Corrective Actions: Sheep are no longer to be permitted to graze in the vineyard, OR a fence enclosing a 30m diameter circle around both wells must be erected to protect the drinking water system.

Routine inspection of a water system servicing Saturna Beach Strata conducted alongside water system operator. Water system source is 2 wells: Well ID 18225 (primary), Well ID 18224 (back up). System is on a Boil Water Notice started July 31, 2025 due to recurrent total coliform counts. Water system serves 13 private residences. Trained, certified operator available on site. Water disinfection method is chlorine, no treatment method present. Chlorine residual monitored and recorded, log book maintained on site. Bacteriological sampling conducted monthly
