Critical Inadequate Treatment

Water system treatment currently does not meet the British Columbia Surface Water Treatment Objectives and the Drinking Water Protection Act. Boil Water Notice continues to be effect for the system in its entirety.

Corrective Actions: Treatment system is required to come into compliance with the British Columbia Surface Water Treatment Objectives. Upon receipt of construction permit approval, approved upgrades to the water treatment system are to be made, with commissioning of the system to be completed by May 31, 2026.

Non-Critical Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data

The untreated source water (surface water) is overdue for the 5-year general chemical/physical analysis.

Corrective Actions: General chemical/physical analysis of the source water is to be conducted (sampled from the lake-side pumphouse hose bib) by an accredited lab and with results forwarded to the Drinking Water Officer by January 31, 2026.

Non-Critical Emergency Response Plan

Emergency Response Plan has been submitted but is incomplete.

Corrective Actions: A more detailed Emergency Response Plan is to be submitted, as per communication from Drinking Water Officer as follow up to ERP review. Ensure ERP action items are relevant to the water system and include emergency scenarios relevant to the proposed treatment upgrade.



Comments
GENERAL COMMENTS: - Water system is not operational for off-season (winter) period; permanent residents provide their own water. - Operator did not have access to the treatment building at time of inspection as building was locked; ensure operator has access at all times. - Drinking Water Officer and operator discussed the following: -- ERP revision needed to ensure relevant to system and for more detail to be added. -- Monitoring of free chlorine residual in distribution system. -- Disinfection by-products and eventual requirement for monitoring. -- Operator Training - Operator to send to DWO information regarding training and experience with water system operation. Additional training may be required.
