Fish & Duck Pub Water

System Description: The water source is Sproat Lake. The system supplies 4 connections including an office and the Fish and Duck Pub with a maximum population served of 150. The system includes two sets of cartridge filters and UV. Since the implementation of the Drinking Water Treatment Objectives (Microbiological) for Surface Water Supplies in BC, the system does not meet the log reduction credits for a 4 log reduction in viruses (such as adenovirus). 1. Observation: Currently, the facility is submitting one sample per month which does not meet the minimum sampling requirements of The Drinking Water Protection Regulation Schedule B of 4 samples per month. Correction: Develop a new sampling schedule to meet the minimum requirements of 4 samples per month. Quarterly raw water samples should be incorporated into the proposed sampling schedule. Correct by: 08-OCT-22 2. Observation: The last annual report on file was submitted in 2018. Correction: Complete the annual report for 2021 and submit it to our office for review. Then, complete annual reports and submit them to our office for review by June 30 of each year. Correct by: 08-OCT-22 3. Observation: There is no record of a construction permit or waiver for the additional treatment devices (cartridge filters and UV) installed nearest the lake (behind one of the cabins). Correction: Submit all the required documentation as outlined in the Construction Permit Waiver Request Form for review. Correct by: 08-OCT-22 4. Observation: Chemical and physical analyses of the water source have not been completed since 2002. Correction: Complete these analyses as per Minimum Sampling Parameters for Surface Water Sources on the raw water supply Correct by: 08-MAR-23 5. Observation: The operator of the system has not completed any water operator training. Correction: Complete a minimum or equivalent to the BCWWA’s Small Water System Operator’s course Correct by: 08-MAR-23 6. Observation: An emergency response plan has been completed by the current owners. Correction: Forward a copy to our office for review. 7. Observation: The treatment building nearest the lake requires cleaning and repair after animal activity was present. The treatment building nearest the lake does not have a lock on the entry door. Correction: Clean the treatment building and repair any damage or entry points for pests. Add a lock or some other method to prevent public access and prevent tampering. Comments: - An operating permit must be issued and updates to terms and conditions will provided for review prior to their addition to the operating permit. - Ensure records of all maintenance activities are maintained. - Ensure spare parts such as bulbs and filters are kept onsite.
