Currie Park Water System

Park is located in Sahtlam, with limited use in the rainy season. System currently rotates between chlorinated and not chlorinated based on irrigation. When irrigation is required, water is pulled from the well, chlorine is injected on-demand, and the system maintains residual. Once irrigation is no longer needed, the system does not pull enough water for the chlorine residual to be maintained (source has been GARPed low risk, however the cistern poses the risk). Currently non-potable. The sole drinking water fountain is wrapped in plastic, and signs are posted in the bathroom and at the fountain indicating that the water is non-potable. Recommend having hand sanitizer available at the bathroom. Log book is maintained for the water system, residuals tested at the end of the line, targeting 0.5 ppm chlorine. Currently the site is sampled twice a month at the mechanical room. The EHO has finished the creation of a sample site for the treatment shed. Please sample each site twice a month for a total of four bacteriological samples. Last chemical report was 2023. Next report due in 2028. Facility to provide typical months of operation (when irrigation is working, and water is considered potable). Facility to provide a start up procedure for ensuring water is potable before opening up the fountain and removing signage. Current terms and conditions on permit to be reviewed.
