Description: A licensee must ensure that water accessible to a person in care, from any source, is not heated to more than 49° Celsius.

Observations: Licensing toured the facility and checked the hot water temperature in the common bathroom and kitchen area which had water readings of 49.9 and 49.8 degrees Celsius. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of persons in care and must be corrected immediately. Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.

Description: A licensee must ensure that all rooms and common areas are maintained in a safe and clean condition.

Observations: This contravention was carried over from the Routine Inspection dated November 2, 2022. On this date Licensing toured the facility and observed windows that were dirty in two person in care's bedrooms. Staff stated that the windows had been requested to replaced by BC Housing for over a year.

Description: A licensee must ensure that all employees comply with the policies and procedures of the medication safety and advisory committee.

Observations: Licensing audited the medication administration record for two persons in care, and observed that a staff member had not signed or coded for a medication on September 3 and 24, 2023 for one person in care.
