Description: A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Corrective Actions Taken By Licensee: Licensing observed that broken toys, chairs, hoola hoops and other play equipment had been cleaned up and away from children in care.

Description: A 1.8 metre (6 feet) clearance around equipment is considered safest

Corrective Actions Taken By Licensee: Licensing observed that all toys were minimum 6 feet clearance from the composite climber with slides.

Description: Depth guidelines for loose fill material (if protective surfacing used) :
minimum 15 cm (6”) for 1.5 metre (5’) equipment height
minimum 30 cm (12”) for 2.3 metre (7’) equipment height

Corrective Actions Required: Ensure a minimum of 6" of protective surfacing is provided for equipment measuring 5 ' in height.

Observations: Licensing measured wood chips surfacing under a dome climber measuring 5' in height to be 4" deep.
3060 - CCLR 14(4)(a)
Description: A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to a covered container for soiled clothing
