Observations: Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher was last serviced in March 2022.
3010 - CCLR 19(1)(b)
Description: A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person

Observations: Licensing reviewed 5 of 5 employee records and observed that one employee was missing two character references.
3010 - CCLR 23(1)(a)
Description: A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C,

Observations: Licensing reviewed 5 of 5 employee records and observed that one employee did not have a current first aid certificate. Manager stated that this employee had worked alone at the end of day shift. Manager further stated that this employee would not work alone until they had renewed their first aid certificate.
3020 - CCLR 56(1)(c)
Description: A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]

Observations: Licensing observed that there were no records of fire drills or emergency plan practices. Manager stated that fire drills were conducted monthly but was unable to produce the record of monthly fire drills. Furhter, the Manager stated that the previous annual practice of the emergency plan ( BC Shakeout in Fall 2022) was conducted before they were hired as Manager, and was unable to produce the record of the annual practice.
3080 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i)
Description: A licensee must do all of the following:(b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care

Observations: Licensing observed that the approved Corrective Action Plan for Lead in Water (2 minute flush) was not being recorded. Manager stated that the 2 minute flush was being done as part of the opening staff's duties, but it was not being recorded.
