Description: A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child

Observations: Licensing observed the following items in the outdoor playspace: a metal frame around the gutter that was sharp and accessible to children; gaps in the tile creating a tripping hazards and; exposed rusty nails on two large wooden spools.
3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Equipment height)
Description: Height of equipment – Highest play surface as reported by Licensee or observed by LO: for toddlers (12 to 36 months) no more than .9 metres (3 feet) for preschool children (30 months to school age, no more than 1.5 metres (5 feet) for school-age children (attending school) no more than 2.3 metres (7 feet)
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure children in GCC (Under 36 Months) do not use equipment over .9 Meters (3 feet).

Observations: Licensing observed a child using a slide measuring 4.4 feet at the playground.
3030 - CCLR 34(2)(b)
Description: Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observations: Licensing observed an Early Childhood Educator Assistant replacing an Early Childhood Educator that was not scheduled to work on this date.
3070 - CCLR 57(2)(b)
Description: A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility

Observations: Licensing audited 6 children's files and two files were missing date of enrollment for children in care.
3070 - CCLR 57(2)(d)
Description: A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner (doctor's name and number does not apply to REC only) and emergency contact
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure the name and number for a medical practitioner is obtained for children's files.
