Description: A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observations: Licensing tested four hand washing sinks in the 305 (Group Child Care School Age) program room. Four of four hot water taps measured above 49 degrees Celsius. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of children in care and must be corrected immediately. The Manager turned off the hot water during the inspection and stated that children would use cold water to wash hands. At the time of inspection Licensing observed the manager order thermostatic valves to be installed under the sinks. Licensing will return to conduct a follow up inspection once valves have been installed.
