Description: A licensee must ensure that water accessible to a person in care, from any source, is not heated to more than 49° Celsius.

Observations: Licensing inspected the rooms of persons in care and measured the water temperature. Water temperatures measured as high as 54.1 Degrees Celsius in some rooms. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of persons in care and must be corrected immediately. The manager immediately contacted the maintenance staff who tested the water temperature with Licensing, and then turned the boiler down shortly after. New thermometers were ordered similar to Licensing equipment, and will arrive tomorrow and persons in care were notified about the hot water temperature. Full compliance will not be achieved until the hot water has returned to 49 Degrees Celsius or below.

Description: A licensee must ensure that all medications in the community care facility are safely and securely stored,

Observations: Licensing inspected the rooms of persons in care and found several medications that were not securely stored in a number of rooms of persons in care.
3020 - RCR 23(3)(b)
Description: A licensee must make a policy respecting all of the following:the possession and disposal by anyone of tobacco, e-cigarettes and cannabis, other than medical cannabis, on the premises.
