Observations: Licensing observed cleaners accessible to children in care in the Langford, Highlands and Kids Cove Rooms. Corrected at time of inspection.
3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Depth)
Description: Depth guidelines for loose fill material (if protective surfacing used) :
minimum 15 cm (6”) for 1.5 metre (5’) equipment height
minimum 30 cm (12”) for 2.3 metre (7’) equipment height
(Consider surfacing table, Triax, etc.)
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that protective surfacing is a minimum of 6 inches for equipment that is 5 feet in height.

Observations: Licensing measured depth ground surfacing underneath equipment that was 5 feet in height to be between 2 and 3 inches deep.
3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Inspected)
Description: Thorough daily, monthly and annual inspections, as well as maintenance and repairs of the outdoor play area are performed and recorded

Observations: Licensing observed that the play space log in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program had not been completed since Nov 3, 2022. Corrected at time of inspection.
3070 - CCLR 57(2)(d)
Description: A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner (doctor's name and number does not apply to REC only) and emergency contact

Observations: This item is carried over from last Routine Inspection dated May 11, 2022. On November 15, 2022 Licensing audited 30 children's files and one was missing name and telephone number of an emergency contact other than the parent. One was missing name and telephone number of medical practitioner. Manager corrected during inspection.

Description: A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (b) to release a child to someone other than the parent.

Observations: Licensing observed that emergency drills conducted for the Group Child Care (School Age) programs were not accessible at time of inspection.

Observations: Licensing observed that the conditions on exemption request for the use of the climbing wall on the playground were not followed in regards to depth surfacing. Surfacing measured between 2 and 4 inches in depth on equipment that measures 8.5 feet in height.

Description: A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
