Description: A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing on April 1, 2025 Licensing received a corrective action plan that indicated that an exterminator will be contacted to mitigate the mice, if mouse traps are required they will not be accessible to children. The dog will be outside or put in a room while children are in care and furniture will be cleaned professionally every 6 months, carpets will be removed while children are not in care so dogs don't have access to them, all floors and equipment will be cleaned daily, mold in the washroom will be cleaned with mold resistant cleaners and the space will be kept well ventilated, vitamins and razors will remain locked and garbage bags were brough away from the facility. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing.

Observations: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the facility had mice problems and a mouse trap was placed in the nap room, there was mold in the facilities washroom were vitamins and a razor were accessible to children in care and the Licensee had a dog that urinated inside..
3060 - CCLR 14(4)(a)
Description: A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to a covered container for soiled clothing
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure a surface for changing diapers is located outside of the food preparation area and next to a covered container. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing on April 1, 2025 Licensing received a corrective action plan that indicated a covered container will be placed next to the change station in the washroom. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing.

Observations: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that there was no covered container in the washroom and soiled diapers were taken through the facility to the deck where the diaper pail was kept.
3060 - CCLR 46(1)
Description: A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure a program is established to instruct children and practice the rules of health and hygiene. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing on April 1, 2025 Licensing received a corrective action plan that indicated handwashing will occur throughout the day including at time of food preparation and eating, and when children are touching cots and equipment and no food will be allowed in the bedrooms. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing.

Observations: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee served food to a child without handwashing her hands or the child's hands and that the mattress cover used on a crib where children in care slept had food crumbs on it because a child had touched it with hands while eating.
