Description: A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has obtained all of the following: character references in respect of the person

Observations: Licensing reviewed five staff files and one staff file did not have character references.
3010 - RCR 40(1)(a)
Description: A licensee must ensure that the performance of each employee is reviewed both regularly and as directed by the medical health officer under subsection (2) to ensure that the employee continues to meet the requirements of this regulation,
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure employees have regular performance reviews to ensure that employees continue to meet the requirements of this regulation.

Observations: Licensing reviewed five staff files and three staff did not have updated performance reviews. On July 10, 2024, the Manager sent a status report of staffs last review date and thirteen care staff of fifty-two had reviews completed from January/ February 2023.
3030 - RCR 63(3)(c)(iv)
Description: A licensee must ensure that meals are provided by ongoing room tray service, if reassessed by the person in care’s medical practitioner or nurse practitioner at least once every 30 days
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that person in care receiving ongoing room tray service has a reassessments by the person in care's medical practitioner, nurse practitioner or dietician at least once every 30 days

Observations: Licensing reviewed one person in care's ongoing room tray service order and noted there was no reassessments by the dietitian since February 2024.
3070 - RCR 83(4)(a)
Description: Subject to subsection (5), a licensee, other than a licensee who provides a type of care described as Hospice, must ensure that each person in care is weighed at least once each month,
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that all persons in care are weighed at least once each month.
