Description: A 1.8 metre (6 feet) clearance around equipment is considered safest

Observations: Licensing observed that the clearance from a slide and climber clearance from a wooden picnic table measured 2.32 feet and 3.41 feet.
3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Entrapment)
Description: For prevention of entrapment, spaces (i.e., holes/openings) must be smaller than 9 cm (3.5 inches) or larger than 23 cm (9 inches). Use Head & Torso test probes
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that for the prevention of entrapment, spaces (holes/openings) must be smaller than 3.5 inches or larger than 9 inches.

Observations: Licensing observed on an elevated playground structure (measured 2.4 ft height) in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program outdoor play space the space between railings were 4 inches. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of persons in care and must be corrected immediately. The Licensee Contact stated that the children would not use the playground equipment until the gaps would be repaired. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.
3010 - CCLR 19(1)(a)
Description: A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: a criminal record check for the person

Observations: Licensing audited seven staff files and one staff file was missing a criminal record check. The staff file contained a criminal record check obtained from another organization.
3070 - CCLR 10(1)
Description: Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that notification of any changes in the information proved in Section 9 is given to a medical health officer immediately.

Observations: Licensing observed that elevated play equipment and a play house was added to the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program outdoor play space. Licensing was not notified of the changes to the outdoor play space. Staff stated that the outdoor play space changes occurred in May 2023 and an outdoor play plan included going for walks and using the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) play space when the children were not using it.
3070 - CCLR 58(2)(a)
Description: The licensee must develop the care plan in consultation,with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Corrective Actions Required: Ensure that care plans that are developed for a child requiring extra support is done in consultation with a parent and any person requested by a parent.
