A licensee must establish a program to instruct, if necessary, and assist persons in care in maintaining health and hygiene.
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff had not assisted a person in care with hand hygiene.
Corrective action: Ensure that staff assist persons in care with maintaining health and hygiene. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On December 14, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: Registered Care Aides (RCAs) and spa staff were to have been provided education related to hand and nail hygiene, this education would be provided yearly to staff, individual nail brushes were provided for persons in care and a system was implemented to ensure persons in care's hand hygiene was completed by staff. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing.
