Category/Description
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: a criminal record check for the person
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that a criminal record check had not been obtained for an employee.
Corrective action: Ensure that criminal record checks are obtained for employed persons. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On January 8 and 10, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included employees whose criminal record check has not been processed by the Criminal records Review Board will not work directly children, counted in ratio of children to staff and be left unattended with children. Prior to new employees commencement of employment a criminal record check would be completed. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On April 22, 2024, Licensing was notified that employees whose criminal record check had not been processed were no longer employed.
