A licensee must ensure that each menu provides a variety of foods, taking into consideration the texture, colour and matters that affect food safety, taste and visual appeal,
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee did not ensure that each menu provided a variety of foods, taking into consideration the texture, colour and matters that affected food safety, taste and visual appeal.
Corrective action: Ensure that each menu provides a variety of foods, taking into consideration the texture, colour and matters that affect food safety, taste and visual appeal. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On July 28, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included education provided to dietary staff and cooks regarding food substitutions and Health Canada's Food Guide, a presence of Managers on the floor during meal times and meal audits were to be completed every three weeks. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On November 1, 2022, Licensing received confirmation that education was provided on August 10, 2022 to staff, meal audits were conducted monthly by Managers and on January 5, 2023, Licensing received results of two surveys, completed by persons in care, which included questions related to the food served.

Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention.
