Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined between June 12 and June 28, 2023, there were four occasions when staff to child ratios were not met.

Corrective action: Ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 3, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included: the Licensee would ensure this facility would maintain Schedule E of the Child Care Licensing Regulation; an Early Childhood Educator would work in the Group Child Care [Under 36 Months] program daily. Licensee would pay for schooling for current employees to finish their Early Childhood Education training or who wanted to begin their Early Childhood Educator training. Once staff were enrolled in schooling, Licensee would apply for an exemption for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant to temporarily work as an Early Childhood Educator. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. Follow Up Inspection required. On September 8, 2023, Licensing conducted a Follow Up Inspection, Licensing observed the Licensee was following the corrective action plan.
