A licensee must ensure that a child is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee, subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect: emotional abuse,
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that children in care, while under the supervision of the Licensee, were subjected to emotional abuse, specifically a parent in care argued with staff and approached a child in care.
Corrective action: Ensure that a child was not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee, subjected to emotional abuse. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 10, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. The corrective action plan included, care for the child of the parent involved in this incident was terminated, ensuring that the termination policy would be followed in the event the dignity and respect policy was violated and staff reviewed and signed off on Licensee's policies related to harmful actions not permitted. This corrective action plan has been reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On August 16, 2023, Licensing received documentation, by email from the Manager, which indicated that the review of policies with staff had been completed.
A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee,
Observation: Licensing determined that the medical health officer was not notified within 24 hours after a child was involved in a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care and supervision of the Licensee.
Corrective action: Ensure a Licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after a child was involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 10 , 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. The corrective action plan included all staff review and sign off of facility policies and Child Care Licensing Regulation related to reportable incidents. This corrective action plan has been reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On August 16, 2023, Licensing received an email from the Manager, confirming education of staff related to facility policies and Child Care Licensing Regulation related to reportable incidents had occurred.
