A licensee must assist persons in care to obtain health services as required,

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the licensee did not assist a person in care to obtain health services as required.

Corrective action: A licensee must assist persons in care to obtain health services as required. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 5 and 6, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included: a guideline was created regarding referrals to external physicians and all nursing staff were trained on the guideline, and all registered nurses would ensure timely responses from physicians through monthly clinical meetings. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. On December 20, 2023 Licensing received the guideline and confirmation that the nursing team was trained on the guideline on October 11, 2023.

A licensee must ensure that each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the care plan for a person in care had not been modified when there was a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care.

Corrective action: Ensure that each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 5 and 6, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included that the care plan for person in care had been revised to address intervention strategies to address edema. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On September 6, 2023, Licensing received a copy of the revised care plan.
