A licensee must ensure that all furniture and equipment for use by persons in care are maintained in a good state of repair,

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff pagers were not in a good state of repair.

Corrective action: Ensure that all furniture and equipment for use by persons in care is maintained in a good state of repair. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 16, 2024 Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included a plan to address any equipment that was not in a good state of repair and staff were informed of a protocol for reporting broken equipment. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On October 4, 2024, Licensing received Meeting minutes, dated September 19, 2024, which addressed the education.

3030 - RCR 52(1)(a)(i) 
 

A licensee must ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect, as described in section 1 of Schedule D: emotional abuse

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff had subjected a person in care to emotional abuse.

Corrective action: Ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to emotional abuse. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 16, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included that a meeting was held with staff involved regarding expectations related to care in the air and a staff meeting was held on September 19, 2024, with Health Care Aides (HCAs) which reviewed expectations around care in the air. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On October 4, 2024, licensing received meeting minutes and education material from training that occurred on September 19, 2024.

3010 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i) 
 

A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff did not demonstrate the skills necessary to carry out the duties assigned. Specifically related to providing care in the air.

Corrective action: Ensure to operate the community care facility in a manner that promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 16, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included that a meeting was held with staff involved regarding expectations related to care in the air and a staff meeting was held on September 19, 2024, with Health Care Aides (HCAs) which reviewed expectations around care in the air. Corrective action: Ensure that the community care facility is operated in a manner that promotes the rights of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 16, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included that a meeting was held with staff involved regarding expectations related to care in the air and a staff meeting was held on September 19, 2024, with Health Care Aides (HCAs) which reviewed expectations around care in the air.
