A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff had not been monitoring the outdoor patio area while persons in care were present.
Corrective action: Ensure to operate the facility in manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 18, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included that staff would carry out safety checks every 15 minutes in the outdoor spaces and a new document would be developed for staff sign off demonstrating the safety checks were completed. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On September 21, 2023 Licensing received a copy of the new check in document.
A licensee who provides a type of care described as Long Term Care must, for each resident or family council established at the facility, do the following: respond in writing to all recommendations brought forward by the council at the meetings under paragraph (b), including by providing a rationale for any decision to reject a recommendation;
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee had not responded in writing to recommendations made by the family council.
Corrective action: Ensure to respond, in writing, to all recommendations brought forward by the family council. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 18, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included a meeting to be held on September 20, 2023 between the Licensee, and members of the family council to establish a plan of communication which all parties would communicate in writing. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On September 21, 2023, Licensing received copies of the meeting minutes between the Licensee and family council members indicating that correspondence would be done in writing.
