A care plan must be developed, to the extent reasonably practical, in a manner that takes into account the unique abilities, physical, social and emotional needs, and cultural and spiritual preferences of the person in care
Observation: Through the Licensing investigation process, Licensing determined that a care plan did not include a person in care's unique abilities and physical needs. Specifically, a choice of clothing.
Corrective action: Ensure that a care plan is developed to the extent reasonably practical, in a manner that takes into account the unique abilities, physical, social and emotional needs, cultural and spiritual preferences of person in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 6, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included that staff were to ensure persons in care and family were involved in the development and content of the care plan, staff were to highlight the person in care's choices in wearing open back clothing and include these details in the care plan and staff were made aware of the revised care plan through shift reports, progress notes and the communication book. The corrective action plan has been reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On August 7, 2024, Licensing received a copy of a person in care's care plan which addressed open back clothing.
