Category/Description
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee had not provided continuous supervision to children.
Corrective action: Ensure that children in care care receive continuous supervision. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 22, 2022, the Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. The corrective action plan included: the Licensee would be present and mindful of supervising children at all times, that if the Licensee had to leave the room, it would be for a short period of time and only after assessing that the children in care were safe; items needed by the Licensee would be assessible to reduce time away from direct supervision. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. On August 18, 2023, Licensing completed a Routine Inspection and observed continuous supervision being provided.
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation: Through the investigative process, Licensing determined that the Licensee had not kept a log of all minor events.
Corrective action: Ensure that a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events are recorded. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/a Required by Licensing: On August 22, 2022, the Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. The corrective action plan included: Licensee would notify parents of any injury sustained by a child in care. If there were events where a child hurts another child, whether by accident, Licensee would notify the parents and Licensing. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. On August 18, 2023, Licensing completed a Routine Inspection and observed parent notification of minor incidents via text message.
