Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee did not ensure the health, safety, and dignity of a person in care.
Corrective action: Ensure the community care facility operated in a manner that will promote the health, safety, and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On July 22, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included that on July 8, 2024, persons in care were relocated to the new build, Providence Living at The Views, the facility's physical changes included private rooms, CCTV monitoring, and smaller "households" for improved staff visibility, a review was conducted to find more suitable roommates for persons in care within the new setting and a guideline for Intimacy and Sexuality in Care was developed to ensure the health and safety of persons in care. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor the corrective action plan. On September 18, 2024, Licensing conducted a Complaint Inspection and confirmed the corrective actions were implemented, units were secured and monitored by staff and equipped with CCTV cameras and Licensing also reviewed guidelines regarding sexual intimacy between persons in care.
A licensee must ensure that each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that a person in care's care plan had not included how staff were to redirect or intervene when the person in care was engaged in sexual activity.
