A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of person in care

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that children in care were exposed to unwanted behaviors from a personal pet.

Corrective action: Ensure that the community care facility is operated in a manner that will promote the health and safety of children in care specifically regarding pets. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On August 10, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan stated that the personal pet would be at the facility for a maximum of two days a week. When the pet was at the facility, the pet would remain leashed under the direct control of a staff not included in the staff to child ratio, in a crate or in the office. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. Follow Up Inspection on December 13, 2022. Licensing observed that the personal pet was not at the facility. Manger stated that the pet was at the facility once since corrective action was implemented and all requirements of corrective action were followed. Follow Up Inspection on January 18, 2023. Licensing observed that the pet was not on site. Manager stated that the pet would only be on site if the terms and conditions of the corrective action were met.
