3050 - CCLR 48(7) 
 

A licensee must ensure that food and drink are not used as a form of reward or punishment for children.

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff rewarded children with food. Specifically, that staff gave food when children behaved well.

Corrective action: Ensure that food and drink are not used as a form of reward or punishment for children Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: Between June 18, 2024 and June 25, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: removing all food items from the prize bins from all rooms that had a 'thank you' bin. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On June 25, 2024, Licensee submitted an email with confirmation of the information discussed at the staff meeting that was sent to staff on June 18, 2024.

3020 - CCLR 56(2) 
 

A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that staff did not implement policies and procedures. Specifically, that staff did not implement the Food and Drink Policy.

Corrective action: Ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees, specifically the Food and Drink Policy. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: Between June 18, 2024 and June 25, 2024, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: The Food and Drink Policy was reviewed during a staff meeting on June 18, 2024, including clarification as to what constituted the using food as a reward and; an email with the information discussed at the staff meeting was sent to the staff on June 18, 2024. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On June 25, 2024, Licensee submitted an email confirmation that the Food and Drink Policy had been reviewed by all staff.
