Category/Description
A licensee must ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect, as described in section 1 of Schedule D: neglect
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that a person in care, while under the care or supervision of the licensee, was subjected to neglect. Specifically, there was insufficient staff to meet the needs of persons in care.
Corrective action: Ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care and supervision of the licensee, subjected to neglect. Action/s Required by Licensing: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On October 21, 2022, the Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included updating and redistributing the "Working Short Routine", reminding staff of available resources when working short-staffed at next staff meeting, implementing policy and waiver for Family Use of Care Equipment allowing families to assist in transfers, and providing education and training to staff and families regarding the new policy. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On December 7, 2022, Licensing received an email from the Licensee that confirmed the corrective action plan was completed.
A licensee must ensure that, at all times, the employees on duty are sufficient in numbers, training and experience, and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to meet the needs of the persons in care,
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the employees on duty were not sufficient in numbers, training and experience, or organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to meet the needs of persons in care.
Corrective action: Ensure that there the employees on duty are sufficient in number, training and experience, and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to meet the needs of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensing: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On October 21, 2022, the Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. A licensee must do all of the following: operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote in the case of adult persons in care, the rights of those persons in care;
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the facility was not operated in a manner that promoted the rights of the person in care. Specifically, derogatory comments about the food were made by a visitor in front of persons in care.
Corrective action: Ensure that the facility is operated in a manner that promotes the rights of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On October 21, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included a meeting with the visitor to discuss refraining from derogatory comments in front of persons in care and to remind that concerns were to be directed to the Licensee by email or formal complaint process. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On December 7, 2022, Licensing received an email from the Licensee that confirmed the meeting was completed.
