A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care
Observation: Through the investigation process Licensing determined that the Licensee did not ensure that the facility was operated in a manner that promoted the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Specifically, that a person in care was assessed for falls at the time of admission and that the licensee did not immediately provide the equipment necessary to ensure their health and safety.
Corrective action: Ensure that the facility is operated in a manner that promotes the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On June 4, 2024 the Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: if the need for safety equipment is identified, the nurse would report to the Wellness Manager and connect with the Power of Attorney to arrange for the equipment to be ordered prior to admission, in the absence of identified required equipment, a plan would be implemented in the interim which included increased monitoring of the person in care and if the person was not yet admitted, the family was made aware of equipment required prior to the move in date, if a person in care was on an interim plan, there would be notification by charting paperwork, such as care plans, and it would be discussed during report and all nurses would receive training on the contingency plan at the next nurse's meeting scheduled June 25, 2024. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. On June 4, 2024, Licensing received confirmation of the meeting held June 25, 2024 and a memo sent out to staff that contained the above information.
