A licensee must ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect, as described in section 1 of Schedule D: financial abuse

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that a person in care, while under the care or supervision of the licensee was subjected to financial abuse.

Corrective action: Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On January 30, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included a new policy developed for trust fund accounts; an MS Excel spreadsheet will be developed for any clients of the facility for whom they are holding funds, and the balance of the account will be refunded to the person in care via registered mail. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the licensee did not operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety, and dignity of persons in care.

Corrective action: Ensure that the community care facility is operated in a manner that will promote the health, safety, and dignity of persons in care. Specifically, that financial documentation is completed. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On January 30, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included a new policy developed for trust fund accounts, an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was developed for persons in care for who hold funds, and the balance of the account, for the person in care, was to be refunded by February 3, 2023. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On February 27, 2023, Licensing confirmed that the person in care was reimbursed the funds owed.
