Category/Description
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the ratio of employees to children did not meet Schedule E.
Corrective action: Ensure the ratio of employees to children are no less than that permitted in Schedule E. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On July 27, 2022, Licensee Contact submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action included: a staff schedule that had one Early Childhood Educator (ECE) open and close the facility and; An Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) would only bump up to an ECE position when an employee was absent due to an illness, emergency, vacation, or other temporary leave based on Section 37(1)(a) and Schedule E of the Child Care Licensing Regulation. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On September 27, 2022, Licensing conducted a complaint inspection and observed the staff schedule reviewed at the time of the inspection complied with the legislative requirements.
