3090 - CCLR 44(1)(c) 
 

A licensee must provide to children a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that complies with the program standards set out in Schedule G.

Observation: Through the investigation process Licensing determined that the Licensee did not provide children in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program a program of activities that complied with Schedule G. Specifically, children that did not nap were required to remain on sleep mats for two hours during quiet time.

Corrective action: Ensure children are provided a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that complies with the standards set out in Schedule G. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On December 12, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: reminding staff of the facility nap and active play policies, staff adjusting their practices, staff reviewing and signing off on the staff handbook and a change in the daily schedule for the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On November 17, 2022, Licensing received notice that a schedule change was made in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age ) program which included outside play for children that did not nap while children requiring a nap were engaged in quiet time. December 12, 2022, Licensing received a copy of the staff handbook with staff signatures and a daily schedule for the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program which indicated outside time for non- nappers and quiet time for children that napped.

A licensee must do all of the following:(b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care

Observation: Through the investigation process Licensing identified that staff did not follow facility policies in regard to nap time procedures for children in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program.

Corrective action: Ensure the community care facility is operated in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care, specifically in regard to the implementation of facility nap time policies. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to this contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On December 12, 2022, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: reminding staff of the facility nap and active play policies, staff adjusting their practices and staff reviewing and signing off on the staff handbook. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On December 9, 2022, Licensing received a copy of the staff handbook with staff signatures and a daily schedule for the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program which indicated outside time scheduled for children that did not nap and quiet time for children that did nap.
