3030 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i) 
 

A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing observed that the community care facility was not operated in a way to promote the health, safety and dignity of person in care. Specifically in relation to a staff person not demonstrating the skills and abilities to carry out the duties assigned.

Corrective action: Ensure to operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing. On November 9, 2021 Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. This corrective action plan included that audits and reviews of care had been be completed with the staff, that there had been no further complaints in respect to the staff and that the staff had improved their personal approach to provide better care. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On November 9, 2021 Licensing reviewed the audits completed for this staff, which showed a record of brief checks as audited by the Registered Nurse as well as a record of all care for all persons in care in the unit that the staff was assigned to. There were no indication the staff missed care from October 10 to November 8, 2021.

3030 - RCR 52(1)(a)(i) 
 

A licensee must ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect, as described in section 1 of Schedule D: emotional abuse

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing observed that the Licensee had not ensured that a person in care was not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to emotional abuse.

Corrective action: Ensure that a person in care is not, while under the care or supervision of the licensee subjected to any of the following types of abuse or neglect, as described in section 1 of Schedule D: emotional abuse. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing.
