3010 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i) 
 

A licensee must operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee did not operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety, and dignity of persons in care.

Corrective action: Ensure to operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety, and dignity of persons in care. Specifically that staff have the character and skills required to carry out the duties assigned. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On September 6, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included an addition to their current health and safety policy which stated that a new employee cannot work alone on a shift until the orientation was signed off and the Manager was confident that the skills required were met. The corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. Licensing to review and monitor this corrective action plan. On January 5, 2024, Licensing received a copy of the updated policy regarding new employees that were required to be oriented, trained and signed off before working on a shift alone, and that employees on duty must be sufficient in numbers, training, and experience and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern to meet the needs of persons in care.

A licensee must ensure that, at all times, the employees on duty are sufficient in numbers, training and experience, and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to meet the needs of the persons in care,
