A licensee must ensure that, at all times, the employees on duty are sufficient in numbers, training and experience, and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to meet the needs of the persons in care,

Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the Licensee did not ensure a sufficient numbers of employees were on duty to meet the needs of persons in care.

Corrective action: Ensure that, at all times, the employees on duty are sufficient in numbers, training and experience, and organized in an appropriate staffing pattern, to assist persons in care with activities of daily living, including eating, bathing and personal hygiene, in a manner consistent with the health, safety and dignity of persons in care. Action/s Required by Licensee: Licensee to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing specific to the contravention. Action/s Required by Licensing: On June 9, 2023, Licensee submitted a corrective action plan to Licensing. The corrective action plan included: bath audits were conducted and if there were more than six baths missed in a 48-72hr period, a bath team was deployed to catch up on the missed baths, the Registered Nurse, Director of Care and Assistant Director of Care assisted with care needs when short staffed, recreation would assist with feeding persons in care if short staffed and a scheduler was to work seven days a week to ensure staffing issues were addressed, including contacting agency staff, and posting all vacant positions for applicants. This corrective action plan was reviewed and accepted by Licensing. On September 25, 2023, Licensing received no further concerns related to staffing.
