Critical Contamination of finished water - Mains

Lead concentrations from sample taken at the library tap sampling point is above acceptable MAC (0.005mg/L).

Corrective Actions: Instructed operator to conduct re-sampling for lead at the library tap, Please refer to attached Guidelines on Evaluating and Mitigating Lead in Driving Water Supplies, Schools, Child Care Facilities and Other Buildings for Ministries for further information and actions to be taken. Follow the guidelines for monitoring lead concentrations in water and implement a program that will bring lead concentration below the MAC (This could include a fishing program, treatment, and/or having alternative water sources). Lead concentration in raw water is below the MAC, so the problem may be strictly in the library distribution.

Non-Critical Other

Corrective Actions: Please pest proof the outside of the well protective case area, outside and inside the treatment room. Have the well cap securely attached. Trim the grass around the entrance of the treatment room, clean up rodent and deer droppings and better organize the treatment room to prevent cross contamination. Restrict entrance and remove unnecessary items that are not part of the water system operation. Reminder - annual reports must be available no later than 6 months at the end of the calendar year. Please submit annual report. Template provided to operator.

Comments
Water system has three connections which services the library, the thrift store, and a proposed daycare. Well->filtrations->Ultraviolet->Holding Tanks->Distribution. Well stick up >30 cm, under protective cover, the seam is sealed up. Recommended to level up the ground around the well head with potential ponding of water. Currently no conditions are on Permit to Operate. System is on a monthly sampling schedule. Most recent chemical analysis conducted in January 2024. Updated drought emergency plan received from operator. DWO is the progress of completing the Level 1 Groundwater at Risk Contaminating Pathogens (GARP) assessment per the BC Ministry of Health Guideline, additional information maybe required from operator to complete the assessment and will follow up with email on next steps.
