Critical Inadequate Treatment

Disinfection by-product levels, specifically Trihalomethanes (THMs), continue to be elevated in the finished water and exceed the Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC). The locational running annual average for 2023, based on a sampling schedule of approximately every two months and including a total of six samples, was 170 ug/L. The MAC, as per the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality (GCDWQ), is 100 ug/L.

Corrective Actions: A written plan to address this exceedance is to be submitted to the DWO by September 15, 2024.

The following non-compliant items have been corrected from the Routine inspection of January 17, 2023: 312 - Inadequate Treatment (UV Disinfection): Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection units were repaired and solenoid valves were maintained to ensure functionality as of February 6, 2023. 319 - Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data: A full general chemical/physical analysis of the raw (untreated) source water was conducted February 13, 2023 and results were sent to the Drinking Water Officer (DWO) for review. 322 - Emergency Response Plan: Action plan for failure of UV disinfection units was included in Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and submitted to DWO for review on February 27, 2023.
