A person who does not hold a licence must not operate, or hold themselves out as operating, a community care facility
Observation: Through the investigation process, Licensing determined that the operator had cared for up to five children not related to the operator by blood or marriage on the premise, which met the definition of a community care facility. Operator also cared for two children related to her.
Corrective action: Ensure a person who does not hold a licence does not operate, or hold themselves out as operating, a community care facility. Action/s Required by Operator: Operator to immediately cease providing, or holding themselves out as providing, care to more than two children not related to them by blood or marriage. Unscheduled Inspection conducted on October 24, 2022; Licensing observed three children in care. One child was related to the operator. Follow Up Inspection required. Unscheduled Follow Up Inspection conducted October 27, 2022; Licensing observed three children in care. One child was related to the operator. Follow Up Inspection required. Unscheduled Follow Up Inspection conducted November 10, 2022; Licensing observed two children in care. One child was related to the operator. Follow Up Inspection required. Attempted Unscheduled Follow Up Inspection conducted December 1, 2022; Operator not on site this date, no children observed. Follow Up Inspection required. Attempted Unscheduled Follow Up Inspection conducted January 12, 2023; Operator not on site this date, no children observed. On January 12, 2023 Operator stated, via phone, that they no longer lived at the residence and no longer provided care to children. No further action required; this contravention has been addressed.
