Additional Comments

I visited this location for another pre-opening inspection this morning. A VDH food permit was issued today (8/17) --this location may serve or sell food.

When or if you need a DOE or DSS Sanitation inspection, please contact the office three (3) weeks in advanced.

Water was found to be 108 F at hand sink. Water was found to be 118 F at the three-compartment sink. Hand sinks had hot and cold running water available on demand under pressure. There was soap, paper towels, and hand washing signage at the hand sinks. There was sanitizer (Signet SK2) and matching quat sanitizer test strips . Lighting was found to be 50 - 79 foot candles in food preparation, food storage, and dishwashing areas. Lighting was shielding at the dishwashing areas, the food storage areas, and food prep area. Cold holding units had thermometers in/on them. The dumpster area is going to be on an easily cleanable pad. There is no hood and discussed if ventilation / condensation & steam become a problem due to boiling water that would need to be addressed in the future.

CO from the building officials was issued 7/27/2023.

Bedford pest control will provide pest control for the facility.

Also discussed: employee beverage storage being away from food, food prep, single-use to-go items, and clean/ sanitized dishware; importance of air drying dishware - do not wet stack dishware; hand washing policy; cell phone use policy; hair restraints (head & beard); monitoring the sanitizer strength; monitoring food temperatures; date marking; ensuring food is protected when carried from the kitchen to each classroom food allergens; using food grade containers to holding food, storing chemical below and away from food, food preparation, single-use food containers, to prevent accidental chemical contamination; etc.

Reviewed the regulation changes including : starting summer 2021 for there to be a written vomiting and diarrheal clean up procedures (VDH / VDACS Guidance for clean-up June 2021 guidance previously emailed) and you already should have a clean up kit (on order); also starting summer 2021 you must post all pages of your most recent inspection OR post a sign saying inspection is available for viewing on request (QR Code sign poster left today) - you can post this near your food permit (issued today) which also must be visible to the public / your customers .
